ABOUT

Emerson M. Wheeler (he/they) is a health equity professional specializing in social justice and public health with a focus on disability, LGBTQ+ identities, and intersectionality. They are a speaker, writer, advocate, maker, and community builder.

Emerson Wheeler is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he conducted pediatric research about physical activity’s effect on executive functioning. He has also completed multiple years at the University of Vermont’s Larner College of Medicine where they developed a DEI training initiative mandatory for all medical school students to improve public health outcomes for LGBTQ+ patients and employees. Their work is influenced by their almost a decade of experiences as a coach, researcher, and medical professional.

In their professional career, Emerson Wheeler has spoken at and advised for companies such as Diversability, Albert Einstein’s School of Medicine, Community Health Centers of Burlington, and a number of public health organizations, amongst others. They were a nominee for the D30 Disability Impact List in 2023.
